Although there are numerous accrediting bodies spread throughout the globe, the most popular one is the Joint Commission International (JCI). However, just because a medical facility does not have JCI accreditation doesn't mean that it suffers from a lack of quality. Every country or region has its own accrediting body, and the standards used are often just as good as, if not better, than the standards used by JCI. Neither England nor Canada, for example, has any hospitals with JCI accreditation, despite the fact that they have some of the best medical facilities in the world.Â
